Ann-Marie Makar

Hello! My name is Ann-Marie and I am an UX/UI Designer. I have a somewhat untraditional background starting out my university degree in IT and ending with a Bachelors and Master's in Art History. During my graduate degree, I took a semester course of history in new media, where I first learned of UX/UI principles and developed skills in CSS, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Dreamweaver! I now work in the Finance industry where I was selected as the Digital Champion for two major program rollouts and was able to gain experience in usability studies and usability testing. Although an untraditional background while entering the UX/UI field, I believe unique background produces unique viewpoints, which is essential in UX/UI design.

 

I've always been techy savvy and have had a knack for visual design and recently found a passion in UX/UI design. This led me to completing the Google UX/UI Professional Certificate from January 2022 to June 2022. Along with my passion for UX/UI Design, Art and Art History, my other passions include Interior Design and Music.

I am a firm believer that equally visually pleasing, effective, and accessible design can create a positive, lasting impact in the world, whether that be in the mundane day-to-day tasks of the everyday user, to the next billion users who are just starting to dip their toes in the vast online ecosystem.
